Caller ID
Important Privacy Information
Your telephone number can be seen by everyone you call unless you block it.
Any telephone from which you place a call will automatically transmit its number to the person you are calling. Those subscribing to a service known as Caller ID will be able to see your telephone number before they answer their phone. You have the option to determine who receives your telephone number, the law guarantees you that right. You are also able to choose how you would like to have your phone number blocked. The law requires FREE blocking services that give you the freedom to choose when, how and if your number will be shown to those you call. If you have any questions about your choices or the effect any of these services may have upon you and your privacy, please give us a call.
Caller ID (w / ACR)
$6.50 per month-this service allows you to identify the telephone number of the calling party. A Caller ID display unit must be purchased separately. The number of the person calling you will be displayed between the first and second ring.
If your phone displays (P or PRIVATE) you have been called anonymously.
If your phone displays (OUT OF AREA) you have been called from a phone that cannot send Caller ID.
As a customer with Caller ID, you automatically have the ability to utilize Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) also known as Block the Blocker. This is part of the Caller ID delivery function with no additional charge to you. To activate this feature dial (*77) and hang up. To deactivate dial (*87).
You can have Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) without Caller ID.
Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR)
$2.00 per month-this service can be used with or without the Caller ID feature (Caller ID comes with this feature). Calls will be rejected from callers who use Caller ID Blocking. The caller may hear a recording informing the caller to hang up, deactivate his Caller ID blocking and try the call again.
Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) allows subscribers to automatically stop certain calls from ringing their phone. The calls stopped are (ANONYMOUS), namely they would be displayed as (P or Private) on a subscriber's Caller ID Device, meaning that the calling person did not send you his calling number. The person who makes such a call would hear, "The party you called does not accept calls from blocked numbers. To reveal your number on this call hang up, pick up the receiver and dial *82 then the number you are calling or 1182 from a rotary phone." The caller will be able to reach you only by re-dialing without restricting display of his or her number.
Caller ID Blocking
Selective Blocking sends your number to the person or business you are calling. To block the display of your number on a call, press *67 before dialing. (1167 on rotary phones)
Complete Blocking prevents your number from being sent to the person or business you are calling. To display your number on a call, press *82 before dialing. (1182 on rotary phones)
If you wish to change the blocking option assigned to your telephone, you may do so one time free of charge. After that, you will be charged an $8.00 service order fee.
Important Note: You cannot block transmission of your telephone number for calls to 9-1-1, 800, 888, 855, 866, 877, or 900 service, regardless of the blocking option you choose. If, for some reason, you want to report an emergency without having your number displayed, you should call the agency's seven-digit number instead of 9-1-1. If the number you are calling from is not equipped with Complete Blocking, you will need to press *67 before you dial the agency's number in order to block your number from being shown (or 1167 on a rotary telephone). Caller ID blocking may not work on interstate calls.
